Sure, it's the age when everyone's flaunting their iPhones and Androids. But still, Java Applications and mobiles supporting them will always have their significance. The mid-range mobile market is still going strong, and as long as they are in production, Java apps will always be in demand.
If you check search stats on Google, the keyword "Java Mobile applications" has ____ searches monthly. This shows that there is still a huge demand for Java Games and Applications for the mobile market.
I, for instance, have got four mobile handsets in my arsenal at the moment; one of them an Android, one that supports Java apps (Nokia E5) and two that support Java apps exclusively (Sony Ericsson K800, Sony Ericsson K750). So I still scour the internet regularly for java apps.
