I have tried out almost every single one of the chat apps out there for the Java platform and I can honestly say this one is the best.
Nimbuzz works with all the major IM networks, namely :
* Gtalk Messenger
* Yahoo Messenger,
* Live Messenger
Nimbuzz is available for Android, iOS, Blackberry, Symbian, Java, Windows and Mac. If you are a Java user, then this is probably your best bet.
One of the good things I noticed about Nimbuzz was that, when I used other IM apps to chat with mu buddies on facebook, after I exited those apps after my chat session, I remained logged in on facebook and marked as available, so a lot of my buddies kept sending me IM's and on seeing no reply, thought I was ignoring them. I know, it took some work to patch up those relationships, and I never used any of those apps again to chat on facebook. Thankfully, this problem doesn't arise with Nimbuzz, so I can safely chat on facebook again.
Ofcourse, the best feature of Nimbuzz is the ability to make FREE Calls. You can call your Nimbuzz buddies for free from within the app. While this is yet to be implemented in Java, you can enjoy it if your phone runs Symbian OS.
